When I include certain feeds in a ration the protein numbers become non-sensible

Problem

When I include certain feeds in a ration the protein numbers become non-sensible. Most of the time the rations look OK but occassionally the protein numbers are 'odd'. It seems to happen more often with uncommon feeds and feeds whose analysis I have entered.

Response

Version 5.0 MUST have full UK degradability figures to function correctly. For some feeds such analyses are not publically available and they can be difficult to determine. RUMNUT tries to work round this but does not always succeed. Possible solutions are:

  • For commercial products and commercially promoted treatments contact the commercial company
  • Where the feed contributes less than 10% of the diet's protein look at a similar feed and use those figures
  • Where the protein contribution is minimal (eg minerals) use the following figures
    • Na    0.9
    • Nb    0.1
    • Nc    0.1
    • ADIN 1

If none of these ways work you may need to contact me further assistance by email.
